EQUITCH PRODUCT TIPS
HORSES & LARGE ANIMALS
The products are best used at night to enable absorption at
skin temperature and provide maximum protection from culicoides
midge & mosquitoes.
Keep EQUITCH Salve in moderate temperature, particularly
during the cooler times. It can be softened by indirect heat (standing
in sunshine with lid on or in a container of hot water) and by
adding some of the EQUITCH Spray/Wipe-On product to it. Stir well
each time prior to use; this helps thin the product and ensure
even distribution of essential oils.
Prior to applying either product ensure that the part or
animal to be treated is cleansed thoroughly. Best results are
obtained when clean-up is done each time prior to re-applying
products. A solution of 250ml ordinary household white vinegar and
2 litres warm water make an ideal cleanser which will help remove
dirt, dead skin and hair.
If your animal has developed a psychosis for being treated in
a particular place, commence treatment in an area not posing a
problem - for instance if the head & ear areas are a problem
commence under the jawline and work upwards. Emphasis on the wound
alone can sometimes reinforce negative behaviour toward the area.
Where animal is to be treated and then rugged over the area (i.e.
necks & backs) it is best to use an old cotton combo, stable
blanket or line the area inside these areas with old sheeting to
protect rugs from becoming coated in waxy residue.
EQUITCH SALVE
EQUITCH Salve is a heavier duty water
repellent product than the EQUITCH Spray/Wipe-On and it provides
better protection for bald, raw and bony parts such as faces &
tails.
A combination of both products can be used to treat
the animal where needed. Salve can be made thinner by adding some of
the EQUITCH Spray/Wipe-On to it or made into a lotion by mixing half
salve with half spray/wipe-on - this works very well in the cooler
months of the year when salve can become a little hard.
Because of the easy to use application with EQUITCH
Spray/Wipe-On it is an ideal product for preventing ticks, lice,
mites, flies & mosquitoes.
Sometimes itchy tails can be attributable to
mosquito bites between the thighs or under the belly. A spray or
wipe with EQUITCH Spray/Wipe-On or light application with the salve
can help relieve this problem. Also check that sheaths on geldings
and colts are clean - this can contribute to itchiness.
Some animals are "spray-shy" and an
application with a sponge is recommended tail scratching is evident
geldings should be checked for clean sheaths as this can contribute
to itchy tails. A light spray/wipe between particularly if using
around the head. Sometimes spraying with plain warm water from a
continuous sprayer can re-educate the animal to become adapted to
sprays.
EQUITCH SPRAY/WIPE-ON
EQUITCH Spray/Wipe-On can be used
immediately after washing when the fur has been towel dried. It can
also be used as a clean-up solution prior to re-applying salve.
Rub in products well but lightly - animals love the caressing.
If a zinc ointment is being used to protect
vulnerable white markings it can be applied after applying the
EQUITCH.
A good wash with natural soap, or if around the
head area with tearless baby shampoo, after the first 2 weeks
intensive treatment helps remove dead skin & fur ensuring the
product is treating the skin. Thorough rinsing is important. 010605

Prior to applying either product ensure that the
part or animal to be treated is cleansed thoroughly. Best results
are obtained when clean-up is done each time prior to applying.
A solution of 250ml ordinary household white vinegar and 2 litres
warm water make an ideal cleanser which will help remove dirt,
dead skin and hair.
If your pet has developed a psychosis for being
treated in a particular place, ensure that the treatment also
includes some areas which are not a general problem for the
animal. Emphasis on the wound alone can reinforce negative
behaviour toward the "favoured" area.
Some animals are "spray-shy" and an
application with a sponge is recommended particularly if using
around the head. Sometimes spraying with plain warm water can help
the pet overcome its fear of products.
Itch NO-More Salve: Keep in moderately warm
temperature during colder months. Stir well each time prior to use;
this helps thin the product, ensuring essential oils are
distributed evenly.
The Salve is a heavier duty water repellent
product than the MITE Itch NO-More Spray and it is therefore
better for feet, faces, inside ears and bare tummies. A
combination of both products can be used to treat the entire
animal where needed. Rub in products well but lightly - animals
love the caressing.
MITE Itch NO-More SPRAY:
Because of the easy to use application with the
spray it is an ideal product for preventing ticks, fleas, flies
and mites. During heavy infestation periods a twice weekly
application is recommended although it can be applied more
frequently if desired.
On thick areas rub fur against the natural lay
and lightly spray down onto skin then rub through with fingers.
The Spray can be used immediately after bathing
the pet when the fur has been towel dried. Lightly rub fingers
through fur to spread.
Making Your Own Lotion:
TO MAKE A VERY EASY TO SPREAD LOTION FROM BOTH
PRODUCTS, combine equal amounts of Itch NO-More Salve and MITE
Itch NO-More Spray and mix together thoroughly until smooth. Store
in a clean honey type squeezeable bottle for easy application.
